Kid Chess runs chess tournaments at local elementary schools and at Chess Zone, our brick-and-mortar club.

Kid Chess tournaments are rapid re-paired, which means no waiting around between games. If you’re coming to play, that’s what you’ll do!
All Kid Chess tournaments are unrated events. If you or your child are ready for USCF rated tournaments, please visit Chess.Zone to find local all-ages events.

Upcoming Kindergarten – 8th grade Tournaments
Tournament times and sections, unless otherwise stated, are as as follows:
- AM Section: 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and Check-in from 8:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
- PM Section: 1:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. And Check-in at 1:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.

- Saturday, December 6th – Kid Chess Girls Tournament
- AM Regular Chess Tournament – 1st – 8th Grade
- Saturday, December 13th – Kid Chess First-Timers Tournament
- Open to players who have not attended a Regular Chess Tournament
- AM Regular Chess Tournament – 3rd – 5th Grade
- PM Regular Chess Tournament – Kindergarten – 2nd Grade
- Monday, December 22nd – Kid Chess Blacklight Bughouse Timer
- AM Blacklight Bughouse Tournament – Kindergarten – 2nd Grade
- PM Blacklight Bughouse Tournament – 3rd – 5th Grade
- Tuesday, December 30th – Kid Chess Holiday Tournament

- AM Check-in 9am, Tournament 9:15am – 12:30pm
- AM Regular Chess Tournament – Kindergarten – 2nd Grade & 3rd – 5th Grade Sections
- PM Check-in 1:30pm, Tournament 1:45pm – 5:00pm
- PM Regular Chess Tournament – Kindergarten – 2nd Grade & 3rd – 5th Grade Sections
Unrated Regular Chess Tournaments
Kid Chess Unrated Tournaments are rapid re-pair format and students will playing their games with as little downtime between individual games as possible. Trophies awarded to all students with a plus score result. All other participants receive a medal.
Bughouse Tournaments
- All participants must have mastered how all the chess piece move to play.
- Bughouse scores are based on individual performance.
- Players will not have an assigned team and will rotate teammates through the tournament.
Regular Chess Tournaments
- All participants must have mastered how all the pieces move, understand how to castle, and be comfortable with checkmate to play.
- First Timer Tournaments are open to students who have not yet participated in a Kid Chess Regular Chess tournament before.
