About Us

  • Keeping the game fun while teaching them lessons

    Started in 1998, Justin Morrison began Kid Chess as an instructional company for kids. Our main focus is on keeping the game fun for children while teaching them lessons that are important in life such as sportsmanship, problem solving, critical thinking, concentration, patience, attention span and other skills. Participation in chess has been shown to increase test scores in reading and math.

    Over the years, Kid Chess has had the pleasure of working with many State Individual and Team Champions.

    This program is run with great success and popularity in many Cobb County, Fulton County, Gwinnett County, City of Atlanta, and Private Schools. Kids love the program. Kid Chess offers after-school instruction as well as small group instruction, tournaments, summer camps, private lessons, and advanced lessons.

    Our instructors are among an elite group chosen for their chess playing ability as well as their ability to work with children, parents, and schools, and each instructor must pass in-depth background checks.

    Kid Chess has impeccable references from principals, PTA presidents, teachers and parents that are available upon request. Kid Chess contributes to the community by being a Partner in Education with many schools, sponsoring school events, and donating funds, time, free classes, chess sets and other equipment to schools.

    So why have children learn chess?

    • Chess develops analytical, synthetic and decision-making skills that can be applied to real life;
    • Children learn to engage in deep and thorough chess research which will help them build their confidence in their ability to do academic research;
    • Chess enables the child to gain insights into the nature of competition which will help them in any competitive endeavor.

    AND IT’S FUN!
