Kid Chess App: The Fun (And Learning!) Never Stops

Has your child mentioned the Kid Chess App? This app, currently only available as a web version (although there is a way to make it function as a traditional phone app; click here for directions), is a perfect way for students to get better by practicing what they have learned in their Kid Chess program while having fun. Our coaches regularly encourage students to use the app outside of class. Please encourage your young player to work through the app, where they can earn points, badges, and see how they rank on the Leaderboard.

For kids that are still learning the chess basics–from how a piece moves up to advanced tactics–there is always a lesson available on the Kid Chess App:

Meet a Kid Chess Coach: Akiva Blaut

Akiva Blaut

Following graduation from The Weber School, Akiva earned an associate degree in psychology from Georgia Perimeter College and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Georgia State University. His prior work experience includes being a teacher’s assistant, teaching a Microsoft Excel class, and tutoring students in math and science. Akiva’s family lives in Atlanta, Seattle, and he has two sisters and a brother who live in Israel. As a child, he was taught to play chess by his mother and plays weekly with the chess club at Georgia State. Akiva finds the game is not only a great mental exercise but also a terrific way to meet people and get to know them. Chess is only one of the many games he enjoys; he also plays video games and many other board games with intellectual challenges.

If you’re interested in becoming one our valued coaches, please see more information here.
