Kid Chess

Hi, Kids! This is the place to come to learn about chess, play chess, and have some fun along the way! Let's get started!

Note. If you see a little red littleredx instead of the game when you click on one of the links below, you probably don't have the Java® Runtime software installed on your computer. If that is the case, click here to get it.

Quiz your chess skills in different areas such as tactics and checkmates. These fun puzzles are going to make your brain grow and improve your chess game. Give it a try.

Kid Chess Videos

You can watch all of the same videos at home that you see at school and at our camps! Review what you saw today in chess club, or if you missed class, catch up quickly! (Secret Code required.)

Easy Chess

Easy Chess!

Our easiest chess opponent is ready for you right now. Play a real game of chess while you practice the basics of piece movement. Easy Chess will give you hints along the way of where a given piece that you pick can actually move. Easy to beat, and lots of fun!

Monster Chess!

Here's a neat game. Pick the piece of your choice and use it to run around the board gobbling up all of your opponent's pieces. They won't capture back, but be careful: you have to capture a piece with EVERY move or you lose the game!

Knight's TourKnight's Tour!

All you have to do is visit each square on the chessboard one time and one time ONLY with just a lone knight. How tough can it be? Answer: VERY tough! But we know you're up to it. Give it a whirl!

JChess!

Ready for a challenge? Try out JChess. Unlike Easy Chess, JChess will play a real game and will try to win! JChess uses standard opening lines, and knows tactics and strategy VERY well! So if you're up for it, JChess is ready when you are!

Or to practice your endgame skills, try one of our JChess endgame puzzles.

Checkmate the King

Checkmate the Enemy King!

So you can play the openings, you can get through the middle game, but just can't quite checkmate your opponent? Practice it here! Select from different combinations of pieces and checkmate black's lone enemy king. Watch out, though, else you might stalemate, instead.
