As a new or returning student to our "Fun With Chess" club at your school, we wanted to make you aware of the resources available on our website kidchess.com that you and your child can utilize to learn various aspects of chess, and then practice what you have learned by playing our several different types of computer chess games that we offer.
If you or your your child does not know how the chess pieces move, or wish to review what you have learned in your school's chess club, we invite you to visit the instructional section of our website at http://kidchess.com/kidchess_learn.html, where your child can pick up the basics of setting up the board and pieces, and also how the pieces move. (Our video lessons as detailed below also go over the pieces and how they move.) Again, don't worry; we'll go over piece movement in class, too!
If knowing how the pieces move is not a problem, then your child may enjoy playing a game of chess against the computer at our website at http://kidchess.com/gamestoplay.html. The EasyChess Computer on the website is great for reinforcing details of piece movement while you play an actual game. For a more challenging game, you can also try the JChess Computer. It is important to understand that those children who play chess more than simply what they do in the Kid Chess chess program will do better and enjoy chess more than those who only play chess one hour a week. For a child to become proficient at chess, they will need practice, just as they would if they were learning to play a musical instrument.
We are also very proud of our Kid Chess Animated Lessons, and your child has access as a Kid Chess student to our entire range of video lessons, which teach piece movement, chess tactics, strategy, endgames, and even show example games that illustrate openings and tactics. The video lessons may be found at http://www.kidchess.com/videos.

You or your child must supply a Secret Code to get into this area, and it is very simple. As shown above, just key in the word gochess and press the Enter button to access the videos. Your child can come here to review material that is presented in our Kid Chess classes, and if your child misses a class, he or she can come here and review what was presented that day. You as a parent can also come to this resource to see what your child is learning. We're very excited about these fun and instructive videos and hope you will be, too.

Excellent Schools have an
Excellent Chess Program.
Yours Should, Too. |

Playing chess has proven to help students enhance their creativity, improve their power of concentration, develop and expand critical thinking skills, boost memory and retention, and achieve superior academic performance. Additionally, chess has been shown to augment problem-solving capabilities, provide cultural enrichment, advance intellectual maturity, and enhance self-esteem. We know that these are qualities that school administrators, parents, and teachers desire for their students.
Our Kid Chess "Fun With Chess" program features:
- Classes professionally taught at the school campus,
- At least 1 trophy for each participant,
- Tournaments with many Trophies,
- "Bughouse Chess", which is a four-player version of of the game that teaches teamwork and social interaction,
- Computer-aided instruction,
and many other ways to learn and enjoy this great game. We provide instruction for all levels and ages, from those that do not know how to play on up to champions.
