Kid Chess Instructional League
The Kid Chess Instructional League is an opportunity for students to gain exposure to tournament level chess in a safe, comfortable environment. The weekly classes will be held on Thursday nights at Chess Place. Sessions will be held on Jan 10th, Jan 17th, Jan 24th, and Jan 31st. Sessions will begin at 6:45 p.m. and run for 90 minutes, ending at 8:15 p.m. More Info...

Regular Chess in the Morning, Bughouse in the Afternoon
Sunday, January 27th at Chess Place, located at 2501 E. Piedmont Road, Suite 160, in East Cobb County. The morning tournament is from 9:15 AM to 12:30 PM, and the afternoon tournament is from 1:15 PM to 4:30 PM. Eentry fee for either tournament is $25, and $40 for both. Trophies will be awarded to all kids with a break-even score. Our Chess camps are wildly successful and lots of fun, and offer one of the best opportunities for players to improve a great deal in a short amount of time. This year ’s camp will be no exception!
The three day camp will be held from Wednesday Jan. 2nd through Friday Jan. 4th. Your child can attend either mornings (9:00 AM – 1:00 PM), afternoons (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM), or full day (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
The Trophy Presentation will be held on Friday. Every student will earn at least 1 trophy, and will have the opportunity to earn more.
Other features of the camp include:
- Low student-coach ratio allowing for individual attention
- State of the Art technology, including our website (www.kidchess.com) with puzzles, computer opponents, video lessons, and other features to entertain and educate your child
- Tournaments

The Kid Chess Instructional League is meant to serve as preparation for tournament chess. Students attending must have a strong grasp of all the rules and basics of Chess. If you are unsure whether the Instructional League is a good fit for your child, please consult your school’s chess coaches for recommendation.
Kid Chess coaches will be on hand to give instruction and analysis to students. Your child will get to experience the following:
* - Tournament Play Experience: Play games under tournament conditions. This is a chance for your child to see what competition Chess is like, or to gain more practice in Tournament Environments.
* - Personal Analysis of Games: Get one–on–one coach-to-student analysis of games and positions each week to assist your child in improving their specific aspects of play.
* - Advanced Lessons: Go above and beyond with advanced concepts and tactics.
The cost of the Kid Chess Instructional League is on $35 for the three week session, or $16 per week for pay-as-you-go. Please note that space is limited, and you should register early to avoid disappointment.

Regular Chess in the Morning, Bughouse in the Afternoon
The Chess Place January Elementary School Open will be held on Sunday, January 27th at Chess Place, located at 2501 E. Piedmont Road, Suite 160, in East Cobb County. The morning tournament is from 9:15 AM to 12:30 PM, and the afternoon tournament is from 1:15 PM to 4:30 PM. The morning tournament is regular chess, and the afternoon tournament is bughouse (partner chess). If you play in the bughouse tournament, we strongly recommend that you choose a bughouse partner to register with, however, if you cannot find a partner, we will try to find one for you. The entry fee for either tournament is $25, and if you register for both, it is only $40. Trophies will be awarded to all kids with a break-even score. Team Trophies to teams of Top 3 scores from a given school. Every participant will receive at least a medal. We strongly recommend you register well in advance, as we anticipate both tournaments will fill up. We definitely will be unable to accept walkup registrations on the day of the tournament.
